PHNOM PENH, May 30, 2024 — The Cambodian Ministry of Commerce recently engaged in a significant knowledge-sharing session with a delegation from the Timor-Leste Leadership Programme, aimed at young and upcoming leaders. The meeting was led by Mrs. Laura Mizela Da Costa, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Timor-Leste to Cambodia.

During the session held on May 27, Tat Puthsodary, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, warmly welcomed the delegates and delved into Cambodia's journey towards restoring peace and political stability, crucial pillars that have underpinned the nation’s economic growth.

The Secretary of State elaborated on Cambodia’s strategic economic frameworks, including the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP), the initial phase of the Pentagonal Strategy, and various initiatives aimed at reducing poverty, enhancing human resource development, and integrating the nation into regional and global production networks. These efforts are designed to boost industrial competitiveness and diversify exports.

In response, the Timor-Leste delegation expressed their appreciation for the insights shared, noting the remarkable progress Cambodia has made in rebuilding its economy and enhancing its international reputation. They also provided an overview of the Timor-Leste Leadership Programme’s background and objectives, alongside a brief on their National Development Plan for the period 2011–2030.

This interaction marks a significant step in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between Cambodia and Timor-Leste, as both countries continue to navigate their paths towards sustainable economic development.
